Movial demonstrates live car entertainment system at 77th International Motor Show in Geneva

Movial, company delivering software and services for the IP communications market is demonstrating live IP communications car solutions at the Geneva Motor Show, from March 6 - 10, 2007.

Movial together with BMW Group and Intel Corporation is integrating Presence, Voice / Video Calls, and personal live media solutions into a BMW cockpit mock up to demonstrate a next generation communication experience while on the road.

The Geneva Motor Show is an annual auto show spotlighting prototypes, new equipment and technical breakthroughs in the car industry. Movial will demonstrate the possibilities that IP technologies can bring to the car. The use of presence information in the car makes voice and video calls directly from the car safer, more convenient and offers users easier and faster access to support information and wider internet communications.

The communications software and user interface design are results of Movial's IPR. The Linux OS runs on an Intel® architecture-based hardware platform. The demonstration is a solution built up on open-source tools and technologies, such as Scratchbox, GTK, GStreamer combined with Movial's Linux Platform competence. The user interface is developed on the Movial touch widescreen concept, which brings a new level of UI innovation to open source based devices.

“Using an open Intel® architecture-based platform Movial has been able to implement a solution that offers a seamless digital in-vehicle user experience,” said Staci Palmer of Intel Corporation.

"We are very glad to work with leaders in the silicon and automotive industries. Together with BMW Group and Intel Corporation we enable real time IP Communications services for the people on the go in usable and safe manner. There is momentum to move open internet technologies to next usage level”, said Jari Ala-Ruona, CEO of Movial Corporation.
