Following TAG Launch Success, Mobile Operator Optimus “PC-Enables” All Mobile Phone Subscriptions with Movial IP Communication PC Service

Movial Delivers on Promise to Generate More Communication

HELSINKI, Finland — April 20, 2009 — Movial, the company that inspires rich, intuitive Internet experiences, today announced that Optimus, a leading mobile operator in Portugal (Mobile Carrier of Sonaecom and partner of Orange group), after its successful TAG launch is now PC-enabling all its mobile phone subscriptions through its mass market “Webphone” PC service, powered by Movial Communicator PC.

Optimus rolled out its IMS-based Communications service branded TAG last Spring, which bundled a mobile subscription with the PC Communicator service at a flat rate of 10 Euros (approximately 14 US Dollars) a month among the TAG community. With Movial’s PC client software, Communicator, Optimus was able to extend its services to PC users for the first time, providing an additional and exciting channel aimed at teenagers for rich, multimedia communication. With its compelling and fully integrated end-user experience that includes IM, SMS, MMS, email, VoIP, video telephony, voice and video mail, all based on Presence, Movial Communicator enabled Optimus TAG users to access TAG services from both their PCs and their mobiles which resulted in a measurable spike in communication. TAG users have picked up the Optimus Webphone in masses. PC usage was beyond expectation and over 90% of that usage was Voice and SMS traffic -- with almost no cannibalization.

“We were delighted to see the uptake in our TAG offering, and based on its success we are now extending the Webphone service to all our mobile phone subscribers,” said Miguel Almeida, Executive Director of Sonaecom. “Movial has been an exceptional partner in delivering on what they promised – proven ability to generate more communication with the best possible user experience. Our subscribers are delighting in the flexibility and greater access they have to communicate in new and exciting ways – with Presence built in -- so they can communicate from wherever they are, whenever and however they like.” “Optimus continues to grow their market and extend innovative offerings to its over 2.8 million subscribers by empowering them to continue to use their services on the PC,” said Victor Donselaar, President at Movial. “Movial is proud to be a part of Optimus’ continued success in making people’s lives richer and easier. We applaud Optimus for its forward thinking strategy and in extending its hugely successful Webphone offering to all of its mobile phone subscribers for compelling, revenue generating communication service.”
