Movial Launches Communicator Mobile 5, Unveils Unified Inbox For Enhanced Messaging, GSM and High-Quality VoIP Calls

Company enables millions of mobile users to enjoy a better unified communications experience on both Mobile and PC devices.

BOSTON, Mass. — Fall VON — Oct. 29, 2007 — Movial, the company that inspires rich, intuitive Internet experiences, today announced the general availability of Communicator Mobile 5, a significant upgrade to its popular client application suite, which enables device manufacturers and service providers to profit from launching IP services as Presence, multimedia messaging, instant conferencing, push-to-video, music and video sharing, and mobile news across various device platforms and protocols.

Device manufacturers and service providers around the globe rely on Movial’s Communicator to offer the best voice quality and converged IP multimedia applications that provide a highly intuitive, consistent user experience across mobile and PC devices. Communicator Mobile 5 contains a number of compelling upgrades which enable end users to enjoy a simple, easy user experience without worrying about the underlying technology. With Communicator Mobile 5, there is no complexity associated with utilizing silo applications.

“Movial has a pulse on the user experience, whether it is delivered through mobile Internet or GSM,” said Ron Westfall, Research Director of Access and Applications, Current Analysis. “Addressing mobile user needs, particularly in ways that make the branded device interface and operator deck experience easy-to-navigate and use, are critical for increasing the adoption of mobile content applications such as video sharing. Movial experts are primarily Internet specialists, and bring a distinct and proven perspective to this whole area of convergence - helping operators and device companies deliver enhanced experiences across mobile, PC, TV and related mediums.”

New features for Communicator Mobile 5 were designed specifically as a result of a recent research study Movial completed with the Converged Messaging Technology Consortium (COMET) and HP.

Movial reports that its 15 operator customers who utilize its Communicator software client experienced higher VoIP quality and greater overall usability. This led to a 15% jump in end-user communications compared to competitive offerings, and improved revenue for operators from: VoIP calls, more completed GSM calls and use of SMS when not connected over broadband. When a user presses the “Call” button, Movial Communicator determines the best way to route the request, ensuring that the call is completed, freeing operators and their customers from traditional, siloed application thinking.

“After conducting extensive customer research that surveyed mobile phone usage and user demand for messaging applications, Movial determined one of the most important applications to bring to mobile users is a unified inbox,” said Jari Ala-Ruona, CEO of Movial. “Our research clearly shows that users between the ages of 20-30 are expecting a richer, more intuitive and integrated communication experience that they are used to from the Internet world. They asked for an easy-to-use interface that combines instant messaging with text and multimedia messaging. Movial is continuously improving its products and we are delighted to be able to quickly bring a high demand, improved messaging product to the marketplace in Communicator Mobile 5, as a result of this great mobile user feedback.”

Movial CEO Jari Ala-Ruona will be available to demonstrate Communicator Mobile 5 at Fall VON in Boston on Oct. 29 and 30, 2007. To schedule a media or analyst interview at the show, or for further inquiries, please contact Ilona Mohacsi at +1 631.764.3729, or via e-mail at ilona@abelsongroup.com.
