25.01.2005

Movial has signed an agreement for a non-exclusive source code license for the Hotsip® Active Contacts™ PC allowing Movial to broaden its offering with a PC SIP client for IP Telephony, Video, Instant Messaging and Presence.

Stockholm, Sweden – January 25, 2005 - Hotsip AB, a leading SIP Application Server provider with off-the-shelf applications for large scale SIP enabled broadband and 3G/IMS networks, announced today that it has entered into an agreement with Movial, a leading software developer of software clients for the mobile multimedia and presence-enabled applications market. Hotsip licenses its source code for the SIP based soft client, Hotsip® Active Contacts™ PC to Movial.

Active Contacts™ PC is a SIP software client for PCs with Windows OS. In the client end-users keep contact lists showing the presence status of their friends, family and colleagues. From this single interface the end-users can easily initiate and receive phone calls, video calls and instant messages. Movial will with Active Contacts™ PC broaden its offering of software and will use it to develop, sell and supply SIP clients to existing and new customers.

Hotsip has as of January the 1st 2005 discontinued the development and sales of Active Contacts™ PC and will continue to evolve the partnership with Movial and other leading terminal vendors to offer the market leading and innovative applications and services for fixed and mobile convergence. Hotsip is continuing to accelerate the roadmap and development of its carrier-grade SIP Application Server, Hotsip® Multimedia Communication Engine (M2CE™) and the Service Creation Environment (SCE). M2CE™ is designed to meet all the demands of a service provider as an IMS compliant Application Server. It combines the power of SIP and Web services using a J2EE platform and unleashes the ability to create new and revenue generating convergent services.

“We are very happy to further strengthen our partnership with Movial which will enable us to focus even more on our customers and meet their requirements on a carrier-grade SIP Application Server with off-the-shelf applications”, states Kenneth Gustafsson, CEO of Hotsip and continues “Movial is a profitable company which has had a lot of success in developing software clients and we believe our partnership will create more opportunities in the application market that we were previously unable to address.”

”Along with this partnership, Movial is broadening its product portfolio to cover both mobile and desktop applications. Entering to desktop territory supports our vision of presence-enabled services that are interoperable and accessible anywhere. Hotsip® Active Contacts™ PC client will be part of the Movial Connect product family that consists of proven wireless Presence, Instant Messaging and Multimedia based applications. In the future, Movial will launch similar SIP IP Telephony, Video, Instant Messaging and Presence-enabled applications for consumer electronics devices”, says Jari Ala-Ruona, CEO of Movial.

By combining Hotsip’s and Movial’s strengths and product offerings, the companies will provide one of the best offerings of convergent applications such as Telephony, Messaging and Presence on the market.
